Senior Business Analyst
Position Summary:
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for the analysis and evaluation of business objectives and the development of solutions to meet Technology Credit Union’s (Tech CU) business requirements. The Senior Business Analyst acts as the primary interface between business unit end-users and systems development, applications, and programming areas.The incumbent works directly with internal stakeholders and third party vendors to elicit business and functional requirements.
The incumbent coordinates activities with other departments such as, mortgage sales, marketing, compliance, retail and the contact center to ensure all requirements are taken into account. Additionally, the Senior Business Analyst works within Tech CU’s collaborative and innovative culture to create innovative solutions to a variety of challenges.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties- Participates in projects based on assignment from the Business Process Management team.
- Conducts requirements elicitation through techniques such as brainstorming, focus groups, interviews and requirement workshops.
- Interprets end-user needs and requirements to translate concepts into practice.
- Conducts stakeholder engagement assessments and manages stakeholder expectations in order to ensure all expectations are established and successfully met throughout the project.
- Creates documentation throughout all steps of the project life-cycle such as a formal business requirements document (BRD), process swim lanes and functional specifications.
- Quantifies current results and trends and conducts statistical analysis to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Helps the business identify quantifiable process measures and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Understands the product roadmap and cross functional dependencies to help guide business units in the gathering of their requirements.
- Acts as the primary liaison between the business and technical team.
- Facilitates meetings with applications developers to ensure business requirements are accurately translated into technical specifications and a solution design.
- Continuously develops knowledge and skills on systems that the team interacts with in order to better assist the technical team in the early identification of system gaps and potential development issues.
- Works directly with end users to develop, execute and manage a user acceptance test plan, including the management and tracking of defect reporting.
- Coaches and mentors teams on various process management methodologies and best practices to create common and consistent standards.
- Understands continuous improvement processes and ability to write processes/procedures when necessary.
- Full-time; typically 40+ hours/week
- Flexible within core business hours, M-F
- Occasional extended early morning or late evening hours, and weekends, typically with advance notice

- Meets with manager on a regular basis to discuss goal alignment, performance metrics and development plans.
- Complies with Tech CU policies and procedures.
- Complies with requirements imposed by federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
- Adheres to internal controls and security measures designed to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate losses and errors.
Qualifications:
Education: B.S. Degree in Business, Project Management, MIS, Computer Science, or related area (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- 7+ years’ experience as a business analyst.
- 5+ years’ experience writing user stories, functional specifications and Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams.
- 5+ years’ experience with various tools & techniques for eliciting requirements such as interface analysis, interviews and focus groups.
- 2+ years’ experience facilitating and managing user acceptance testing (UAT).
- 2+ years’ experience with process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) and value stream mapping to facilitate project team analyzes of business processes and recommended solutions.
- 2+ years’ experience with UI/UX design artifacts such as wireframes, storyboards, concepts, prototypes, and screen flows.
- 2+ years’ experience with team collaboration tools such as JIRA and SharePoint.
- Prior experience working for financial institutions preferred.
- Prior experience with financial institution software solutions, business processes and requirements, preferred.

- Demonstrated organizational and planning capabilities, and ability to handle multiple projects, tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated record of establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and facilitation skills including the ability to deal with all levels of internal employees, external vendors and business partners.
- Advanced ability to bridge the gap in understanding requirements between the business and the technical team.
- Fundamental ability to ask investigative questions to identify and explore the issue for which the business is attempting to solve.
- Effective ability to translate business unit communications into logical requirement statements (If/When, Then).
- Good ability to anticipate “needs” rather than “wants”.
- Ability to probe the business units about “why” they perform tasks instead of just accepting actions as having business value.
- High knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Good familiarity with change management methodologies such as ADKAR (Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Action, Reinforcement).
- Innate ability to create innovative solutions to a variety of challenges.
- Highly adaptive and open to changes as the organization grows and its needs evolve.
- Strong ability to work independently and/or with respective Project/Program Manager.
Travel: May be required to periodically attend offsite training, meetings or events, typically with advance notice. Overnight travel unlikely.
Typical Working Conditions: Office environment with interaction with a variety of internal and external parties. May work remotely as determined by business need and individual performance.
Equipment Used: Routinely uses standard office equipment, including computer, phone, copier and other devices.
Physical Requirements:
- Typical office environment with frequent sitting, walking and standing.
- Ability to sit ~85% of the day.
- Ability to keyboard and read computer screen for ~65% of the time during which one is seated.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week with some weeks requiring extra hours, including weekends and evenings, to complete projects (if required).

PAY AND BENEFITS
This is a grade 108 position, with a salary range from $123,000 to $179,000 with bonus potential of 15%. The anticipated range for new hires is between the low-end and midpoint of the range, depending on experience. Tech CU is a pay-for performance organization that benchmarks base pay to the 50^th percentile of our market and we provide incentive-based compensation aligned with successful accomplishment of individual and corporate goals.The salary mentioned above is based on working in San Jose, CA. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.
Additionally, Tech CU provides health care benefits, life and disability insurance, 12 paid holidays and 401k with a company match; along with employee paid voluntary benefits. 7.08 Paid Time Off (PTO) hours accrue per bi-weekly paycheck (23 days per year) and will increase with length of service.Eight hours of Voluntary Time Off (VTO) are granted to full time employees annually to dedicate time to charitable organizations. Leaves of absences are available in adherence with state and federal regulations.
