Responsibilities:
As a Process Piping Engineer, you will design piping systems for launch sites, test stands, manufacturing, and processing facilities. This includes sizing compressors, pumps, regulators, control valves and selecting instrumentation. To be successful in this role you must be able to turn owner requirements into design reality and then communicate this design with engineering drawings and specifications while following all pertinent codes and regulations.Critical thinking and analytical skills are a must. Teamwork and coordination with other disciplines is key to a complete design. As a senior engineer you will lead and mentor younger engineers. On a typical day, you will be working in CAD programs like Revit and Inventor for 3D design.
Caesar II, AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom Pipe are often used for analysis as well as Nastran and hand calculations. You will also be key in keeping projects on budget, managing team hours, and working closely with project managers. You will be the interface between BRPH and the customer and will be expected to lead page turns, design reviews and client meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary function of this Engineer Level is the complete ability to take process mechanical/piping projects from inception to project closeout with minimal oversite. This will include understanding and/or developing the project’s scope, fee, and schedule.
- Performs assignments designed to continue to develop professional engineering work knowledge and abilities. Assignments require independent judgement and application of critical thinking to solve non-routine complex problems. Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the company to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work. Must coordinate with and help resolve conflicts with other disciplines based on an excellent understanding of the design process. Responsible for the preparation of project construction specifications and reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and requests for information.
- Experience with fluid or gas handling systems including component selection and sizing.
- Strong knowledge of compressible and incompressible flow, thermodynamics, and material selection.
- Experience with ASME Codes (B31.3, BPVC, etc.).
- Experience with piping, tubing, fittings, welding procedures, valve selection, filters, and regulators.
- Must be proficient in the use of:
- Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Bluebeam.
- Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Inventor, or other 3D modeling package
- AFT Arrow and Fathom
- Caesar II or other pipe stress analysis package
- Prepares reports, specifications, engineering drawings, construction and design schedules, construction cost estimates, and discipline man-hour fee estimates.
- Performs computer aided design drafting to produce designs into routine final drawings using the latest version of Revit to produce designs into working drawings.
- Able to manage the productivity of junior engineers and designers assigned to him/her.
- Research discipline-related code issues and present interpretations.
- Visits construction sites to review, monitor, and report progress. Perform other construction administration duties such as shop drawing review, attending construction site meetings, answering RFI’s, preparing supplemental instructions and proposal requests, writing status reports, etc.
- Assist in supervising, coordinating, and checking the work, as well as instructing, leading and mentoring Engineer Levels I, II, III, and IV, and Designers and Drafters.
- Provide coordination of all applicable project discipline’s drawings and specifications.
- Lead client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects while promoting and representing the firm in a professional manner.
- Promote communication, cooperation, and quality among staff.
- Develops engineering proposals and agreements in conjunction with the National Practice Leader.
- Assists the National Practice Leader with the forecasting of workload and resources for assigned projects and/or department.
- Monitors project budgets and has overall responsibility for the profitability of his/her projects.
- Responsible for meeting project schedules, timely completion, and quality of assigned projects.
- Should be active in professional trade organizations.
- Responsible for job specific standards, practices and quality as defined in BRPH documentation.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of eight years of experience as an engineer in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in Blue Beam Review or other PDF editing package.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have passed the NCEES exam and be licensed as a Professional Engineer.
- Familiar with ASME B31.3 and ASME BPVC Section VIII.
- Basic level knowledge with AutoDesk Revit.
- Basic level knowledge with AutoDesk Inventor or other 3D modeling software.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
- Basic level knowledge with Caesar II or other pipe stress analysis software.
- Basic level knowledge with AFT flow analysis software.
- Proficient with AutoDesk Revit.
- Proficient with AutoDesk Inventor or other 3D modeling software.
