Controller

A client of ours is looking for a Controller for a contract role. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Great Plains, the manufacturing industry, and managing month-end close processes. This also includes being responsible for the direct supervision of the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions and the compilation of financial records and statements of Company.

Responsibilities of Controller
  • Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Utilize Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) software for financial data management, reporting, and analysis.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal financial controls.
  • Manage cash flow, cost accounting, and inventory analysis.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and tax reporting.
  • Collaborate with department heads and senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and ensure audit compliance.
  • Lead and mentor a small finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance function, particularly in relation to the manufacturing processes.
Skills/Qualifications of Controller
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership role.
  • Strong experience in Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) software is a must.
  • Manufacturing industry experience is highly desired.
  • Proven expertise in managing month-end close processes.
  • Knowledge of other accounting software or systems (such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or SAP is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
