Overview:

Under direct supervision, assists in the administration of various marketing and public outreach programs. This position will assist with various public outreach and marketing events to increase awareness and usage of OCTA projects, programs and services.

This is a non-exempt position in Salary Grade 170: Min $32.52 – Mid $39.02 – Max $45.53 per hour. The starting salary will be within this range based on qualifications.

  • Assists in implementing marketing and public awareness programs to support OCTA services and programs targeting a range of diverse audiences. Uses a variety of tactics including advertising, events, promotions, email, and social media.
  • Assists project managers in creating, developing, and distributing marketing materials to support increased transit use and public outreach collateral for capital projects.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports. Maintains inventory of promotional items and related material as applicable to assignment. Prepares and makes presentations to various internal and external audiences and committees.
  • Assists in coordinating virtual and in-person focus groups, workshops, roundtables, and community meetings.
  • Assists in the preparation and tracking of various communication metrics and internal reports/databases.
  • Monitors web and social media content for accuracy and relevance.
  • Attends project development team meetings for assigned projects and monitors activities requiring outreach assistance.
  • Composes public information copy when needed; proofreads and edits.
Drives for Results: Operates with speed and intensity, translates long-term goals into immediate actions.
  • Assists in the development and execution of event logistics plans for various outreach events and functions to increase public awareness of OCTA programs and services; assists with the development of event staffing plans, ensures all event and site requirements, licenses/permits, and accommodations are met as required.
  • Gathers customer and public feedback and other data, prepares written reports summarizing the data.
  • Ensures the quality of marketing collateral and timely production of materials within budget.
  • Conducts outreach to businesses and community groups and assists with developing partnership strategies and marketing tactics to support campaigns.
Builds Relationships: Is trusted by others, is aware and supportive of needs of individuals and balances results with individual needs.
  • Assists in maintaining working relationships with internal departments and external audiences for the development of agency services and programs.
  • Coordinates with consultants in planning and implementing community outreach meetings.
Solves Problems & Analyzes Issues: Has and applies problem analysis and problem-solving skills on a technical and interpersonal level.
  • Tracks data, interprets findings, synthesizes results, maintains databases, and prepares reports.
  • Understands and applies principles of statistical record keeping, data collection, data management and research techniques.

Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related area is required. Related experience preferred. Knowledge of Orange County demographics and transportation issues is desirable.
