Damar’s service and support array has expanded over the years, providing a full continuum of care including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) clinics, residential and group home operations for children and adults, intensive behavioral interventions, diagnostic and evaluation services, community-based services for child welfare and juvenile justice involved children and families, and primary and outpatient behavioral healthcare services, serving more than 1,500 individuals each day.

Damar is looking for a talented and motivated Psychiatrist to join our team. The Psychiatrist is responsible for delivering high-quality care to both Damar residential and Damar Health Services patients. The Psychiatrist assesses patients, diagnosing or ruling out mental disorders, prescribing treatments, and conducting regular follow-up appointments to monitor the patient's progress.

This is a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) approved site.

  • Provides overall supervision for behavioral health services at the CCBHC.
  • Provides psychotropic medication management for patients.
  • Uses a variety of methods to evaluate a patient, such as interviewing the patient, their family or other persons.
  • Develops a treatment plan according to the needs of the patient’s needs and extent of emotional, social, cognitive, developmental or behavioral disorder.
  • Treats a patient using psychotherapeutic methods and medication, monitoring the effects of any medication and adjusting treatment where necessary.
  • Consults with the patient’s Primary Care Physician, Nurses or other health care providers.
  • Provides crisis intervention when needed.
  • Writes and maintains patient and clinical records, including the type of treatment and medication administered.
  • Keeps up to date with professional job knowledge by reading publications, attending educational conferences or maintaining professional networks.
  • Follows ethical and legal policies, procedures and standards.
  • Limited travel in and around Marion County.
  • What you need to be considered...
  • Board certified Psychiatrist, MD or DO specializing in mental health and/or addictions medicine.
  • Previous experience working with children and adults with SMI, SED, SUD, and CoD preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21 depending on program and / or department requirements.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and physical required.

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
