Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role involves various accounting responsibilities within the non-profit sector. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, and managing other accounting activities.

• Efficiently process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
• Assist in the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is recorded accurately.
• Handle grant accounting and management, ensuring compliance with all associated regulations.
• Collaborate with other team members to improve and streamline accounting processes.
• Perform additional accounting duties and participate in special projects as needed.
• Prior experience working in a non-profit organization is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Experience in Bank Reconciliations and General Ledger maintenance.
• Proficiency in preparing Journal Entries.
• Experience with Month End Close procedures.
• Knowledge of Grant Accounting and Grant Management is essential.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
