The Area Credit Manager/ Credit Project Manager will manage the collections of Benjamin Moore's accounts receivable while providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers. Counsel customers with regard to their own accounts receivable management and conduct business reviews with customers as necessary.

Collaborate with local sales team on customer issues and other credit department personnel. Identify areas for improvement and develop solutions, working cross functionally from creation to implementation, to build scale and deliver on credit compliance and customer service goals.

Reporting Structure:

The Area Credit Manager will report to the Director of Credit as a part of the Credit Department. This position has no direct report(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned regional accounts which may include timely collection of accounts receivables (not limited to cold calling and establishing pay plans), maintenance of customer files (including financial reviews) and recommend credit limit.
  • Counsel customers on retail best practices with a focus on the financial aspect of the business in collaboration with Retailer Business Consulting group.
  • Optimize credit risk by providing guidance to customers in relation to their statement, invoice(s), credit / debit memo’s, retailer portal / Gateway, payments, etc.
  • Analyze and approve new store locations while engaging in the process of Business Agreements and Market Development Funding (MDF) proposals with local market team.
  • Ensure the proper execution of Security Agreements / UCC-1 Financing Statements and Personal Guaranty’s. Manage accounts placed with a collection agency / legal department, placed on reserves and bad debt write-offs.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis on assigned regional accounts to derive insights and propose recommendations based on findings along with preparing presentations and reports as needed.
  • Create and conduct training presentations to assigned region on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop and leverage financial / business analysis to support functional, consultative, and project involvement for the overall current and future needs of Finance and senior leadership / executives.
  • Develop, initiate, and adapt effective processes to ensure efficient, accurate, and consistent output. Act as project management resource for credit department improvement initiatives.
  • Ad-hoc duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A. or B.S. in Business Related Field preferred or equivalent work experience at a management level.
  • 7+ years of work experience in credit, collections, accounts payable, cash applications, accounting, or dispute resolution.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, etc.)
  • Preferred system skills: SAP, OnBase Document Imaging.
  • Ability to communicate openly and honestly with colleagues and customers. Takes personal responsibility for the quality and content of the work and complies with information confidentiality requirements where applicable.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly evolving environment and quickly grasp new concepts by demonstrating and applying knowledge of these tasks timely and accurately.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships by collaborating with customers by fully understanding and meeting their expectations with strong analytical skills, including dissecting financial statements and tax returns.
  • Seen as a team player that encourages collaboration and quickly gains trust and support of peers. Finds common ground and solves problems for the benefits of all through strong negotiation skills and influential and consultative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail to internal or external customers.
  • Travel required -- the amount of travel dependent upon specific region.
