Position Overview
The Tax Manager will lead WIS’s tax compliance, including all subsidiaries and affiliates. Responsible for compliance with both direct and indirect tax regulations and interpretations, including federal & state income, sales/use, property and other non-income taxes for both foreign and domestic operations.This position works with and manages external tax advisors and taxing authorities on a full range of tax functions including tax reporting, tax compliance, tax provision along with planning and research.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and management of tax matters for multiple jurisdictions, including both direct and indirect taxes. Perform analysis regarding income tax impact of business transactions and other planning strategies.
- Review sales/use & transactional tax compliance and returns for multiple jurisdictions and maintain compliance with applicable laws.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 740 and support all audit requirements. Prepare the Company's tax provision to ensure income tax expense, liability, and deferred taxes are properly reflected in the financial statements.
- Manage process for quarterly estimates and annual extensions calculation and payments, as well as analysis / reconciliation of tax accounts.
- Provide tax oversight for acquisition/divestiture activity.
- Oversee the work of external tax providers.
- Coordinate and support tax audits.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree Required in Accounting/Tax; Masters in Tax preferred. Eight to ten (8-10) years of relevant tax experience. Public accounting experience preferred.
Specific Skills:
- In-dept knowledge of ASC 740, as well as U.S. and Canada tax laws. Experience in preparing tax provisions.
- Experience providing tax assistance and insight for M&A transactions.
- Ability to research complex tax matters and determine the appropriate actions to address.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical tax matters to all audiences.
- Strong leadership skills including the ability to coach others and develop bench strength.
- Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and with external advisors.
- Excellent time management, decision making, and organization skills; must be able to effectively multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPA required
Computer Skills: Accounting & tax preparation systems software experience, strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, ability to query and retrieve data from financial systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversight of other tax associates within company.Travel Requirements: Minimal.
Work Environment: Primarily office environment.
Language Skills: English is the primary language skill.
