High School Algebra Teacher (1578)
Overview:
University Instructors (UI) is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Algebra Teacher to join our team and inspire students in the concepts of algebra. Responsibilities:
In this role, you’ll:
- Develop and implement engaging and standards-aligned math curriculum for high school students, incorporating a variety of instructional strategies and resources.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet state standards and the school’s curriculum objectives, and that cater to diverse learning styles and address the needs of all students in the classroom.
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in Algebra 1, using a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through tests, quizzes, homework, and other assignments.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to promote their academic growth and understanding.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and grades.
- Communicate regularly regarding student progress, concerns, and successes.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and collaborative planning activities.
- Create a positive classroom environment that supports student learning and promotes respect and inclusivity.
- Utilize classroom technology effectively to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including English language learners, students with disabilities, and advanced learners.
- Provide individualized support and enrichment opportunities to ensure that all students are challenged and successful in their mathematical learning.
- Performs other related work as assigned by School Leaders or the UI Program Management Team
- Engage with students in a friendly and professional manner.
- Know academic standards, grade level, course content, and best instructional practices.
- Respond to student questions in a positive and supportive manner, providing as detailed instructions as needed.
- Work with the students to set and maintain progress goals.
- Submit records related to attendance, student progress, and other UI program requirements on time.
- Support with all assigned duties, including lunch, hallway, bus, and other activities when needed.
- Co-plan with assigned teachers and grade-level teams.
Qualifications:
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of Algebra I curriculum and mathematical pedagogy.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and software to support instruction.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school administration.
- Experience teaching Algebra I or other math courses at the secondary level (preferred).
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and strategies to support diverse learners (preferred).
- Knowledge of state and national math standards, including Common Core or similar frameworks.
Education and Work Experience:
As a successful applicant, you must have a passion for helping students succeed. Additionally, you will need to have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (preferred)
- Be local to the area
- 3 years of experience in providing grades 9-12 math instruction.
WORK CONDITIONS
Duties performed are typically in the school setting. Performs professional work providing support and consultative services for assigned department/program. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, and light lifting. Some assignments are subject to deadlines inherent in tailoring and delivering programs to meet the needs of diverse groups.
Compensation:
$28-31/hr
