Position Summary:

The senior academic program manager (SAPM) effectively directs, manages, and coordinates multiple ACGME residency training programs by ensuring that all Institutional, Common and Specialty Program Requirements are met.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

 Prepares Program Information Forms for accreditation review and Internal Review documents consistent with the requirements of the ACGME, the specialty RRC and Graduate Medical Education.
 Assists the Academic Chair and the specialty Program Director with preparation of data forms and narrative descriptions needed for continued accreditation.
 Actively participates with the program director during the accreditation review. Maintain the data elements critical to the web based accreditation data system for multiple residency programs.
 Provides leadership and direction to the residents, fellows, and clerical staff within the departments.
 Demonstrates problem-solving and decision-making abilities, organizational and coaching skills for residents and staff. Actively participates in competency based program development and ensures formal curriculum requirements are met.
 Demonstrates professional behavior by exhibiting sound work habits, having thorough knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, and employing proper communication between multiple programs and departments.
 Promotes teamwork and provides a sense of leadership by participating in various integral committees within the Department, Graduate Medical Education and the System.
 Operates with independent judgment on behalf of the Academic Chairman during his absence.
 Initiates the research, development and implementation of documentation systems to ensure accreditation standards and continuous accreditation for areas of responsibility are documented.

 Participates in Regional and National Associations for the advancement of residency education, participates in accreditation planning sessions for national and regional conferences. Continually updates skills, knowledge and certification in specialties.

 Conducts literature reviews and research on changes in residency education, makes proposals to enhance residency education and documentation.
 Manages various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
 Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

 Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

 Responsible for continuous quality and process improvement between programs and areas of responsibility by establishing
measurement procedures in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the residency program. Develop networking contacts with other programs within the state and nationally.
 Prepare, track and manage multiple fiscal budgets and restricted accounts.
 Design, develop and maintain data systems and ensure updates as graduate medical education requirements change.
 Ensures resident competency conferences are scheduled for compliance in the six general competencies.
 Oversees the coordination of the recruitment process for multiple residency programs; performs initial screening of residency applications for Academic Chairman.
 Develop and institute resident in-service for the ACGME procedure tracking to include defined categories/ index cases/operative roles and requirements per PGY level.
 Evaluates opportunities for learning resources in course content and design and develop skills labs for resident education.
 Implements and updates departmental Policies and Procedures as needed.
 Updates specialty program handbook to ensure compliance with requirements and standards.
 Serves as the web site content manager.
 Oversees preparation of resident Medicare reports and physician time study reports for hospital reimbursement.

 Prepares, updates, renews affiliation agreements with other residency programs annually.

 Prepares multiple department annual reports for GME.

Qualifications:

Education/Training
 Bachelor degree.
 Education may be substituted with 8 years directly related experience.

 Must also meet additional years of experience noted in the experience section.

Licensure/Certification

None.

Experience

Four (4) years previous experience in healthcare or education environment required.
