Manual Machinist & Press Tooling Grinder
Pay Range: $26.00 - $31.00/HR Permanent Position with Benefits.
1st Shift: Flexible Start Time: 5:00 AM 8:00 AM, 8 Hour Shift Monday - Friday
An industrial machine shop is seeking to hire an experienced Manual Machinist & Press Tooling Grinder to be responsible for machining, sharpening and preparing tooling for the stamping presses using manual lathes and tool grinders.
REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or GED
Experience working in a metal production environment.
Seeking candidates with five or more years' experience as a tool grinder.
Must be able to use measuring equipment; micrometers, calipers, dial indicators.
Able to machine parts out to within 0.0005 ".
Good math and basic geometry skills and has a strong mechanical aptitude.
Prefer someone who pays attention to detail and can accurately document specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIESMachine stamping tooling and support components using manual mill and lathe.
Review press tooling to determine machine setups and operational sequences.
Figure out numbers, lengths and angles of cutting tools using calipers, micrometers and gauges.
Inspect tooling for defects and assess wear.
Corroborate specifications using micrometers, steel gauge pins, and calipers.
Set up and operate tool grinding machines.
Grind dies, punches and parts.
Face grinding and ID/OD grinding as required.
Fit tooling together in gauges to confirm that lengths are accurate.
Select and mount grinding wheels on machines per specifications using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
Candidates are required to pass a Criminal Background Check and a 10 Panel Drug Screen.
