Overview:

The main function of this job is to trim and cut apart fabric sheets of the micro-coil units according to specifications.

We are a leading supplier of diversified components for the bedding, furniture, and GSA industries. We also produce polyester fiber batting, formed steel wire, flexible polyurethane foam fabrication.

Hickory Springs, continues to extend its original product lines to include sleeper mechanisms, adjustable bed bases, roll packed mattresses and fabric encased micro coils. Responsibilities:

  • As the micro coil fabric sheet comes off the machine, the edges will be trimmed using standard fabric scissors.
  • When the sheet comes off the machine, it must be inspected for missing or misplaced coils. Any repairs must be made using the hand-held ultrasonic welder.
  • The unit is then folded and labeled with a specific code.
  • The unit is then placed in the appropriate bale quantity in a large bin.
  • Depending on the size of the sheet and how many machines you are watching, this process could be repeated once every two minutes
  • Upon completion of a bin, the units must be roll-bailed using the roll-bale machine.
  • Paper must be loaded into the roller before each bale
  • The units are fed into the machine via an infeed table.
  • Upon completion of the roll bale, it must be taped shut and ejected from the machine.
  • Roll bales will be placed via a hand cart in the designated storage space.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Clean the work area after each shift.
  • Your supervisor will have the authority to ask you to help with additional job assignments as needed
  • Safe operation of all machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (safety glasses and ear plugs are required).
  • Generally, you will be assigned to two machines.
  • Attendance. Being on the job daily is key to your success and the company’s success.

Qualifications:

Education/ Experience:

  • High School diploma/GED helpful but not necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Must have at least 6 months of manufacturing experience.

  • Ability to stand, bend at the waist, stretch or reach, walk, and twist frequently.
  • Ability to put parts together using vision and touch.
  • Ability to regularly lift and pull up to 80 pounds.
  • Weight limits on sheets can range from two (2) to thirty (30) lbs.
  • Weight limits on roll bales can range from fifty (50) to two hundred (150) lbs. They must be handled with the appropriate equipment to avoid injury.

  • May be subject to moderate noise from machines in other departments. Hearing protection is required at all times.
  • The temperature in this work area may be in excess of 85 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months.
  • Comes in contact with solvents, oils, and grease on occasion.
  • Any grease or oil mentioned above must be kept away from the finished product.
