This position is devoted to providing repair and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and related systems. Technicians perform a broad range of specialized vehicle and equipment repair requiring advanced knowledge and experience, using independent initiative to solve technical problems.Incumbents may assist in training staff and serve as a second level of check for accuracy or supervise/lead lower-level staff. Decision-making includes how and when tasks are carried out within an operational process, limited by the selection of the process and establishment of deadlines and outcomes.
The employee will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining motor equipment, to include inspecting equipment and vehicles; running performance tests; welding and painting equipment; repairing engines and equipment parts; processing paperwork; performing service requests; performing preventative maintenance; completing work orders; and maintaining service records.
## Duties and Responsibilities- Diagnoses, repairs, services, and maintains heavy and light duty vehicles and equipment; determines need for repair or replacement of components; determines in house serviceability or need for external vendor repair; replaces tires; repairs or rebuilds hydraulic valves, wiring systems, engine repairs, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, heating, and air conditioning systems, and/or performs specialty equipment repair work; performs road calls for field equipment repairs
- Performs preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment; prepares and maintains maintenance schedules; inspects and tests maintenance and repair work to ensure quality levels and completion
- May serve as Lead Technician, as needed. Lead Technicians generate work orders, monitor work quality and completion, generates and tracks work orders. May also assists with daily shop operations and completion of related paperwork; communicates with customers regarding vehicle and equipment issues; provide supervisory coverage when needed
- Performs preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment; prepares and maintains maintenance schedules; inspects and tests maintenance and repair work to ensure quality levels and completion

## Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED and five years of fleet maintenance experience related to assignment
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing/Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class C Drivers license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
