Pay Range: $17.00 - $20.00
PURPOSE: The Lead Medical Scribe is a crucial member of the Reproductive Health team, responsible for assisting healthcare providers in documenting patient encounters accurately and efficiently. This role involves supporting with the training of medical scribes, ensuring the highest level of support and service to healthcare professionals and patients.The Lead Medical Scribe plays a pivotal role in improving the quality of patient care and streamlining clinical operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, Reproductive Health this individual’s primary responsibilities include:
- Accurate Documentation: Accompany healthcare providers during patient visits to capture and transcribe medical record documentation using electronic health record applications.
- EHR Proficiency: Navigate electronic health records to document provider notes, compile concise patient histories, record precise physical examinations, and capture treatment plans.
- Clerical Support: Undertake various clerical duties and tasks aimed at improving provider productivity and clinic workflow, as assigned.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance workflow, streamline work processes, and elevate patient care, collaborating effectively to implement these improvements.
- Scribe Training: Provide initial and ongoing training for part-time scribes, ensuring that they meet the standards of accuracy and efficiency.
- Scheduling: Manage the weekly scribe schedule to ensure adequate coverage and smooth clinic operations.
- HIPAA Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality and data security.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Pursuing a degree in healthcare or a related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Previous medical scribe experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with electronic medical record systems (NextGen, EPIC) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to transition quickly and efficiently between tasks.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with a comfortable grasp of medical terminology.
- Patient, flexible, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse patient population.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Understanding of medical note content, medical billing, and coding.
- Ability to remain composed under high-pressure conditions and meet tight timelines.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Effective team player with the capacity to work both collaboratively and independently.
Certificate/License: Medical scribe certification preferred.
