Prep Cook
Job Description:
The Prep Cook @ Magnolia Glen prepares cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal items.Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes as well as undertake basic cooking duties to support the Cooks and Chef de Cuisine.

Pay Rate$16-$18

What will I do every day?- Follow the prep list created to plan duties
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal
- Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes
- Undertake basic cooking duties, such as reducing sauces and parboiling food
- Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to fully support kitchen brigade associates
- Possesses understanding of “mise en place” through proper placement and preparation of
- Must have good communication skills
- Must have great attention to detail
- Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment
Education/Experience:
- High school graduate preferred
- Training from a culinary school is a plus
- One year experience as a prep cook
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Basic competency in the use of multiple forms of technology, including: Microsoft Office applications, internet-based and custom applications
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to fully support kitchen brigade associates
- Demonstrates understanding of Mise en Place through proper placement and preparation of ingredients
Special Requirements/Certifications:
- Must have Food Handler’s certification as required.
