Position Summary:
Leads and directs daily operations of Ambulatory Surgery Centers owned and operated by Orlando Health often in joint ventures with others including physicians. Responsibilities include planning, development and acquisition of new and existing sites, improvement of financial and clinical performance of each center, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.These responsibilities are performed in conjunction with Orlando Health’s corporate team and joint venture partners.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees clinical functions at all sites to ensure high quality, efficient and cost effective ambulatory surgical services in conjunction with site medical director, administrator, and nursing leader.
- Supports daily operations at all sites including scheduling/ registration, preoperative care, intraoperative procedure, and post-operative process including equipment and supply processing in conjunction with site management.
- Plans, develops, and implements strategies in collaboration with administration inclusive of financial projections to expand business and generate additional revenue in profitable areas.
- Develops and implements business plans to ensure the satisfaction of physician and their offices in order to grow revenue and volumes to target levels.
- Through site leaders, responsible for all aspects of staffing including interviews, selection of candidates, employee onboarding, coaching and performance management.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of regulatory compliance and quality improvement programs for all assigned sites including the maintenance of the licensure and accreditation for all sites.
- Provides oversight and management of site managers.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the compliance plan and risk management plan for the business.
- Oversees the patient experience program in consultation with Orlando Health’s Customer Experience department and ensure the timely response to all customer complaints.
- Ensure that the annual education plan addresses key areas of organizational deficiencies and in-service needs and continuing education of staff.
- Responsible for ongoing management reports to the Vice President of Ambulatory Surgical Centers and the Boards of Directors of the respective joint ventures.
- Ensures that required billing information, authorizations and patient information is appropriately and accurately collected and submitted to billing operations in a timely manner.
- Ensures that scheduling and insurance verification is completed as required by the respective payers including Medicare and Medicaid programs.
- Ensures that equipment maintenance and upgrades are completed consistent with manufacturers and industry standards.
- Coordinate and conduct supervisory and staff meetings at established frequencies.
- Maintain a high performing workplace and inspire team members to perform their best work.
- Work constructively with to ensure proper staffing, on time starts and turnaround times for all rooms.
- Works constructively with the joint venture’s Human Resources department to ensure that the joint venture’s compensation, benefits and all policies and procedures are reflective of current legal and regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
- Work with Medical Director and all clinical professionals to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of all equipment for a safe environment at all sites.
- Work with IT vendors and professionals to ensure that information systems operate, and design meets the need of the business.
- Works with Vice President of Ambulatory Surgical Centers and the respective Boards to ensure that the annual and long-term capital plans meet the objectives of the company.
- Participate in the selection, negotiation, and installation of capital equipment.
- Working with financial support, develop the annual operating budget for the company and submit for appropriate Board approval.
- Monitor monthly performance and take corrective action as needed to ensure conformance.
- Work with Orlando Health Asset Management team to design new centers and renovate existing sites to expand operations and improve financial performance of the sites.
- Establish and maintain constructive working relationships within the ambulatory surgery centers and across the Orlando Health system.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable functions for compliance with company standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll functions as assigned.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Travel required.
- Prepare and give reports to the respective Vice President of Ambulatory Surgical Centers and ASC Board of Directors
- Ensures corporate and regulatory compliance with all state/federal laws and compliance with all accreditation requirements.
- Ensures staff training is completed, and that the organization provides market leading patient experience and service to all referral sources.
Qualifications:
Education/Training- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Eight (8) years of experience in surgical care to include five (5) years in a leadership role.
- The incumbent must be able to work constructively with registration and billing staff, scrub techs and OR nurses.
- Prior experience with various types of surgeons, financial, legal, and other healthcare professionals is critical to this job role.
