Registered Nurse Operating Room - RNOR24-13930 - Wildwood

Shift Time: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (3Days x 12-hour)

Job Description:

The RN must be skilled in handling the unique challenges of surgical services, including responding to emergencies, preparing patients for surgery, and ensuring a sterile environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient’s medical history, surgical risk, and readiness for surgery.
• Prepare the patient physically and emotionally for surgery.
• Ensure all required documentation, such as consent forms, is complete.
• Scrub in and assist the surgeon during procedures by handing instruments and ensuring a sterile field.
• Monitor the patient’s vital signs and overall condition during surgery.
• Maintain a clean and organized operating room environment in accordance with infection control protocols.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide necessary instruments and materials during the procedure.
• Monitor and assess patients in the recovery room after surgery.
• Administer medications and treatments as needed, according to the physician’s orders.
• Provide updates to family members regarding the patient’s condition and recovery process.
• Accurately document patient care and surgical procedures in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Complete operative and post-operative records, including logging all equipment used during surgery.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure:

• Active RN license in the state of Michigan.

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Preferred (if dealing with pediatric patients)

Experience:

• 1+ years of experience in the Operating Room or Surgical Services.
• Proficiency in handling surgical instruments, maintaining sterile environments, and managing pre/post-op care.
