Senior Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:-Post and process journal entries for insurance operations activity-Preparation of monthly general ledger account reconciliations-Assist with monthly, quarterly and year end close-Prepare NAIC / Regulatory STAT filings, which include quarterly and annual statements-Various state and / or Regulatory Data Calls-Support the internal and external audit process-Assist in the preparation of financial reports for review by the executive team, the Office of Insurance Regulation, auditors, banking entities, and reinsurers.-Continuously drives process improvement within the team and supports cross-functional initiatives.-Strong understanding of Insurance Industry processes and experience preparing the NAIC Statutory Financial-Strong attention to detail with quantitative skills and some experience in data analysis including proficiency in Excel with pivot tables and/or macros
Education:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or other related field from a four-year institution. The bachelor's degree is a minimum educational requirement for this position, and cannot be waived.
Required Experience:4 to 7 years in a staff accounting role in the property and casualty insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with both GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
Skills & Knowledge:-Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, Word (required)-General Ledger or Accounts Payable systems (required)-Exceptional organization skills. Completes all administrative tasks in assigned times (required)
