Greenwich Hospital is a 206-bed regional medical center serving Fairfield County in Connecticut and Westchester County in New York. It is a major academic affiliate of Yale School of medicine and a member of Yale New Haven Health.Since opening in 1903, Greenwich Hospital has evolved into a progressive medical center and teaching institution with an internal medicine residency program.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Greenwich Hospital is comprised of four services.
The Outpatient Clinic provides medication management and individual therapy to adult and geriatric patients who contend with a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses including depressive, anxiety, bipolar, psychotic disorders and those facing challenges unique to the aging process.
The Addiction Recovery Center (ARC) is a group-based outpatient program serving those with substance use disorders. ARC offers a 3-day per week IOP program as well as less intensive levels of care. Medication-Assisted Treatments including buprenorphine-naloxone are offered in addition to medication management for co-morbid psychiatric diagnoses while patients are enrolled in the program.
The Center for Behavioral and Nutritional Health is an outpatient program offering individual and group therapy to promote sustainable psychological, behavioral, and nutritional changes necessary for overall health management and reduction in the risk of developing complications associated with acute and chronic medical conditions.
Emergency Department/Consultation Liaison: The department provides psychiatric coverage for the Emergency Department in addition to Consult-Liaison services to patients on the medical floors.Greenwich Hospital does not have an inpatient psychiatric unit.
Greenwich Hospital is recruiting for a per-diem staff psychiatrist who will primarily cover the ED/CL service. As Greenwich Hospital does not have an inpatient unit, ED/CL psychiatry is a consult service through which the psychiatrist will perform a full range of therapeutic interventions to a diverse population, including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessment, crisis intervention and interdisciplinary care of patients with psychiatric disorders.
Patients in need of psychiatric hospitalization are transferred to inpatient psychiatric units of neighboring hospitals in Connecticut and New York.
