Overview:
We are looking for a detail oriented and energetic Warehouse Supervisor to join us at our Poynette facility! In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the material handling team. This includes supervising the receipt, storage, organization, distribution of materials within the warehouse or production facility and transfers of all products outbound/inbound.You will also ensure that materials are handled safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
Leadership:- Develops, trains and maintains warehouse work force to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards.
- Delegate tasks, set daily goals, and monitor team progress.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to team members.
- Ensure proper staff scheduling and adequate staffing levels for material handling operations.
- Ensure timely and accurate unloading of deliveries.
- Oversee the inspection and verification of shipments against purchase orders and invoices.
- Inspect incoming goods for damage or discrepancies and take appropriate action.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to resolve issues such as shipping errors or damaged goods.
- Ensure that all receiving documentation (e.g., packing slips, invoices) is completed correctly.
- Collaborate on the warehouse design, flow, layout, labor and space requirements.
- Ensure all products are properly labeled, stored, and tracked in the warehouse.
- Effective utilization of warehouse areas, as well as proper loading, unloading, stocking, and safekeeping of items to maintain the quality of finished goods, to prevent product damage and avoid occurrence of pilferage, accidents and occupational hazards.
- Effectively controls flow of goods and implements FIFO (first-in first-out) methodology in use of raw materials.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely material delivery to production lines or distribution areas.
- Coordinates with the Materials department in a regular review and determination of proper raw materials safety stock levels and SLOB.
- Coordinates with Materials, Logistics, and Customer Service with regards to prioritization and dispatch of raw materials.
- Ensures accuracy of product inventories against system records, by conducting an effective cycle count program that is co-developed with the Finance department.
- Coordinate with 3PL partners and the Madison plant on movement of finished goods and raw material between locations.
- Ensures the accuracy of inbound transfers to Poynette and outbound transfers to Westport.
- Complies with Federal, State and Local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by understanding existing and new legislation, and enforcing adherence to requirements.
- Ensures all staff is adhering to company’s forklift training program and all equipment is properly maintained and in safe working condition.
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Schedules routine safety inspections and risk assessments for material handling areas.
- Communicates all maintenance requests for material handling equipment to appropriate teams for repair. Ex: forklifts, pallet jacks, yard dog, cranes, WAV, etc.
- Ensure that all equipment has the appropriate forklift software and is being properly inspected, maintained, and safe to use.
- Communicates all IT hardware and software issues to maintain a highly efficient warehouse. Ex: Printers, RF devices, forklift software, computers, repeaters, WMS, ERP, access database, etc.
- Reviews the execution of warehouse process methods, measurement, and metrics to identify areas for operational improvement and implement strategies to contribute to plant productivity goals.
- Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling and tracking expenditures, analyzing variances, and taking corrective action.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve material flow, reduce bottlenecks, and increase productivity.
- Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse operations.
- Maintain accurate records for all received goods and cycle counts.
- Update and maintain training documents related to this department.
- Maintain accurate records of team performance, and any safety or operational incidents.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or relevant certification preferred).
- 2+ years’ experience as a supervisor.
- Previous experience in receiving, inventory management, or warehouse operations.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise a team effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and basic warehouse equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to resolve issues quickly and work well under pressure.
