Responsibilities:
Medical Lab Technician
Performs, evaluates, records and reports clinical laboratory tests used in the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of patients on a variety of body fluids and biologic specimens. Recognizes problems and/or potential for problems within the assigned section regarding instruments, computers, and inventories.Displays sound, supportive and independent judgement to resolve issues equitably.
Medical Lab Technologist
Performs, evaluates, records and reports clinical laboratory tests used in the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of patients on a varietynof body fluids and biologic specimens. Recognizes problems and/or potential for problems within the assigned section regarding instruments, computers, and inventories.Displays sound, supportive and independent judgement to resolve issues in the absence of a supervisor. Assumes charge of the laboratory (if charge eligible) as assigned.

The compensation range for the:
Medical Lab Technician Trainee role is $32.68- $37.62 hourly.
Medical Lab Technician Permit role is $36.76-$42.33 hourly.
Medical Lab Technician Licensed role is $43.62-$49.95 hourly.
Medical Lab Technologist Trainee role is $39.04- $44.18
Medical Lab Technologist Permit role is $43.92- $49.70
Medical Lab Technologist Licensed role is $52.11-$58.69
Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
Qualifications:
Medical Lab Technician
Minimum Education:- Current and active license as a NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technician.
- Experience preferred but newly NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technician qualified individuals considered.
- ASCP preferred.
- NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technician license or eligible required.
- If not licensed, NYSED permit required within two months of hire, NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technician license required
- Trainee’s without a Permit may observe, read procedures and learn processes in each section of the laboratory.
- They may not under any circumstances verify any testing on patients.
- They may be used for specimen processing, send outs and phlebotomy.
- Once a Permit has been obtained, candidate may verify tests in areas that competency has been completed.
- Walking, sitting and standing, most of the day.
- Reaches for, lifts and carries light to moderately heavy equipment and supplies.
- Visual acuity and color discrimination is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and to comprehend conversation.
- Must have manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination to handle and manipulate instruments, slides, test tubes and other
- Alertness required during all phases.
- Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No
- Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish
withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs.
- Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new

Medical Lab Technologist
Minimum Education:- Current and active license as a NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
- Current and active license as a NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technologist PLUS 4 years of experience post license
issuance to be considered charge eligible.
Minimum Experience:- Experience preferred but newly NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technologist qualified individuals considered.
