We are working with an established client in south Denver to staff a role as a project accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of project and cost accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies, accounting standards, and construction industry regulations.

Responsibilities:

1. Set up initial project budget and regular monitoring of project financial performance.
2. Prepare and submit construction progress draw requests.
3. Track project costs and compare actual costs with budgeted costs.
4. Review and approve project-related bills, reconciling with subcontractor and supplier invoices.
5. Maintain job costing reports and perform cost variance analysis.
6. Ensure accurate and timely billing of project work.
7. Collaborate with project managers to formulate project forecasts and profit analyses.
8. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
9. Assist with month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
10. A minimum of 3-5 years experience in construction accounting with a focus on job cost accounting.
11. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and construction industry financial practices.
12. Proficiency in MS Office and construction accounting software.
13. Strong analytical, numerical skills, and attention to detail.
14. Advanced knowledge of construction project management and job cost accounting.
15. The ability to work closely with project management and operations teams.
