Investment Technology Intern (Full Year)

Summary of Responsibilities:

Investment IT provides technology expertise to the front, middle and back office operations for Fort Washington Investment Advisors, Eagle Realty Group and Financial operations (Treasury and Investment Accounting). IT (as a shared service) helps evaluate, implement and support business applications thereby helping the business units to execute on their strategies effectively and efficiently and help W&S achieve its financial and business development goals.

The Investment IT team has two intern positions available to develop and enhance operational solutions that support our business users.

Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Researches, designs, defines, develops, tests, documents and implements new computer applications or changes to existing applications following Western & Southern Financial Group (W&SFG) standards.
  • Assures that hardware and software operate efficiently.
  • Utilizes programming tools effectively to ensure accuracy and enhance productivity.
  • Assembles and analyzes data relating to processing problems, soliciting help as needed from IT and business unit associates.
  • Consults and/or advises business unit associates by written and/or oral communication on inquiries concerning existing or proposed systems.
  • Participates in meetings on developmental projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Selection Criteria:

  • 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Strong analytical skills, experience identifying and defining problems; collecting or interpreting data, establishing facts, and providing effective solutions.
  • Proven programming experience using C#, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and understanding of software engineering principles.
  • Exposure to database topics (i.e. SQL, tables, indexes and keys).
  • Motivation and ability to be productive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Self-direction, flexibility, and an eagerness to learn.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, emphasizing the need to deliver quality products and/or services.

Educational Requirements:

  • Interest in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or related field of study.

Computer skills and knowledge of hardware & software required:

  • Proficient in specific programming languages required for the position.
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Certifications & licenses (i.e. Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • None required.

Work Setting:

  • This position works in an office setting and remains continuously in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings. This position will frequently make repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
