Senior Business Development Manager

Odyssey Systems is looking for a seasoned Senior Business Development Manager to drive growth initiatives and maintain a robust pipeline of new opportunities.In this hybrid, full-time role, you'll collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to expand our impact in Space & Missile Defense. Ideally based in Los Angeles or near critical customer hubs, this is your chance to shape the future of defense innovation with a dynamic and forward-thinking organization.
Responsibilities:
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Responsible for the leadership, execution and success of all identified and assigned Space & Missile Defense market Business Development efforts
- Collaborate with Capture, Operations and Technical SMEs to pursue a unified Space & Missile Defense business development strategy
- Collaborate with other market Business Development Managers to drive new business and business relationships across all market accounts
- Identify, qualify, and maintain a funnel of new business opportunities for the Space & Missile Defense pipeline
- Identify potential future business opportunities by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements
- Maintain a current, related and relevant understanding of emerging/growth markets and long-term trends in Space & Missile Defense technology development, procurement and operational needs
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify potential risks and opportunities for the business.
- Stay updated on industry best practices to maintain a competitive edge
- Function as capture lead on pursuits through Bid/No Bid decision stage reviews
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within Space & Missile Defense related program offices and developmental organizations across the DoD
- Assess the competitive market landscape, apply an understanding of customer “hot buttons”, and use strategic filters to help develop and assess potential solutions
- Build partnerships with other defense contractors and prime integrators related to the Space & Missile Defense market
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote our services and network with potential clients
- Provide detailed pipeline reporting, including opportunity health and customer engagement updates as required (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly)
- Assist in proposal reviews, ensuring alignment with customer needs and compliance with requirements
- Assist in the maintenance of the Corporate BD Repository
- Meet or exceed the annual sales and profitability goals as established by the Company
- Work with the Executive Director, Space & Missile Defense on strategies for short-, mid- and long-term goals and brief the Executive Leadership team at offsite meetings
- Continuously expand Odyssey’s reputation/engagement
Qualifications:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Minimum Required Qualifications
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top SecretEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in a Business or Technical Discipline
Years of Experience: 12-15 years Business Development or Capture experience in DoD Service companies, with the last 3-5 years supporting Space & Missile Defense related markets
Preferred Qualifications
Clearance: Top SecretEducation: Master’s Degree in a Business related discipline
Certifications: Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) or Shipley certification
Technical Skills- Demonstrated track record of identifying and closing new business in similar organizations to Odyssey using consultative and collaborative multi-discipline team approach.
- Strong understanding of requirements shaping and acquisition/procurement process within the DoD with specific focus on Space & Missile Defense related organizations
- Familiarity with space operations to include space lift, space surveillance, space warning, space command and control, station keeping, and other activities involved in launching and recovering spacecraft or satellite operations
- Familiarity with Air Force, Army, Navy, and Space Force operational Space & Missile Defense systems
- Strong familiarity with the Los Angeles, El Segundo, Huntsville, and Colorado Springs Space & Missile Defense related markets
- Strategic Relationship Building: Builds trust and networks with stakeholders, industry partners, and clients.
