Manager, Media Relations - Sports Focus
Overview:
THE ROLE:Herbalife is seeking a Media Relations Manager who is passionate about storytelling, thinks strategically, has strong media relations skills and has a proven track record of securing media coverage and delivering outstanding results. In this role, the Manager will play a key role in developing and implementing PR strategies and campaigns to drive brand and company affinity, top-of-mind awareness, and positive reputation, especially in the area of sports team and athlete sponsorships and sports nutrition.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public relations, journalism, or media relations, with demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with members of the media. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations, this role requires excellent communication skills, with strong writing ability a requirement.The role also requires creativity and the ability to work collaboratively with Corporate Communications team members and partners across the business.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:- Partner with Global Sports Marketing & Alliances, Brand, Product Marketing and regional teams to activate partnerships and promote sports nutrition product launches through integrated communications strategies and campaigns.
- Develop innovative storytelling efforts across traditional and new channels to include multimedia and cross-channel strategies.
- Proactively monitor media outlets and find opportunities to insert Herbalife into timely, relevant coverage such as industry or round-up articles.
- Work with global communications teams to tell global stories, expand media reach and share best practices.
- Build and distribute effective press kits, press releases, media alerts, and other PR materials focused on Herbalife sports nutrition and the company’s sponsored athletes.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with media contacts and influencers, especially those who cover sports and sports nutrition.
- Use media coverage analytics and engagement to inform/revise strategies to increase results.
- Proactively pitch stories and respond to media requests.
- Actively participate in crisis and issues management efforts. Effectively collaborate with internal partners to develop plans and responses to potentially controversial or detrimental media coverage.

Qualifications:
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:- 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, encompassing coordinated strategies, analytics, and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to develop, recommend and deliver effective plans across a variety of media platforms.
- Expertise in building and maintaining media relationships. Existing relationships with sports journalists a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and use data to inform strategies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Comfort and ability to confidently interact and present information to all levels of the organization, including senior leaders.
- Excellent project management skills, and ability to manage many workstreams with different partners.
- Motivated problem-solver and self-starter with strong eye for business and good judgment.
- Ability to set priorities, organize work and thrive in a high production environment while responding quickly and effectively under pressure, changing priorities and tight timelines/deadlines
