FIRE ASSAY MANAGER
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure full compliance with Paragon Safety, Health & Safety, confidentiality and Professional Conduct Policies
- Manage staff and operation of all process SOPs which include weighing samples, fluxing and fusion, digestion, instrumental determination and data review
- Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and produce a PO, and follow up that delivery of ordered items is intact.
- Oversee fire assay inventory and documented information
- Responsible for all activities of the fire assay process (i.e. from pulp to final report), ensure that samples move through the process in a fast, efficient compliant manner
- Focus on minimizing turnaround time, reducing non-conformity events by putting in place and maintain corrective and preventative actions
- Organize work orders, schedule work according to priority daily for all currently active shift
- Daily management of department: monitor and motivate technicians, safe working conditions and efficiency in department, housekeeping
- Provide guidance and supervision so that SOP’s are understood and followed
- Maintain laboratory equipment/instruments in the Fire Assay area in good working condition and report deficiencies promptly
- Perform procedures in the absence of a technician or due to insufficient staffing in order to meet turn-around time
- Foster and maintain a positive environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, grievances are dealt in a timely manner

- B.S. in chemistry, geochemistry or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and Fire Assay experience.
- A minimum of three years of responsible leadership experiences in management or supervisory positions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Detail orientated and ability to work well under pressure
