Mechanical Project Engineer

A Mechanical Project Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. This role involves hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and documentation of mechanical and electrical systems for production equipment while supervising technicians and contractors to ensure efficient setup, modification, and maintenance.

responsibilities:

• Execute initial equipment setup and debugging before turnover to operations.
• Provide third-level troubleshooting support and direct contract technicians and trades for component replacement and design changes.
• Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
• Develop and oversee the use of mechanical and electrical installation checklists and schedules.
• Prepare work orders and direct maintenance personnel and outside contractors in the fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation of equipment.
• Review and update installation documentation and drawings as needed.
• Redline existing drawings and coordinate with drafting services to resolve design issues.
• Train technicians, internal maintenance, and contractors on new equipment installation procedures.

Skills:

• Majority of time spent on the production floor working on equipment.
• strong hands-on mechanical aptitude.
• Understanding of process variables: flow, temperature, rate, pressure, level.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical drive trains, electrical and pneumatic actuators.

Education and Experience:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Project Management.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience.
