Process Engineer, Lithium Refinery

As a Process and Modeling Engineer, you will work closely with the process development and design teams to deploy first-of-a-kind chemical production processes and equipment, designing new processing facilities to produce high purity battery materials, supporting projects from concept through design, install, integration, ramp, and handover to the operations team.

• Work closely with the process design and operations teams to develop dynamic simulations of process equipment and production facilities
• Work closely with process engineers and use simulation results to inform equipment design
• Support operations teams as needed to achieve productivity and material quality targets on pilot and commercial scale systems
• Develop simulations to test control logic using a digital twin concept
• Develop and rollout the Graphic model with operators and training team
• Benchmark the models against real-time plant data
• Develop quality control and product tracking applications to support production
• Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage this understanding to solve challenging technical problems
• 3+ years as a process/controls engineer in a chemical process design or production environment
• 3+ years track record of dynamic simulation engineer
• Demonstrated experience supporting a running production facility
• Experience with P&IDs, I/O lists, and other process design documentation
• Working knowledge of AspenPlus, HYSYS
