Job Summary:

WaFd Bank is seeking a talented individual to collaborate and contribute to the overall development and implementation of a risk-based information security program. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to established policies, procedures, and regulations related to information security.

This individual will contribute to control evaluations, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to identify potential areas of risk, and help the organization manage remediation activities.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts internal information security risk assessments to help meet internal and external compliance requirements
  • Conducts information security third-party risk management reviews and assessments.
Maintain the information security risk registry and track remediation activities across product teams
  • Works with information security and IT leadership to develop strategies and plans to improve the security practices of the organization.
  • Collaborates on IT and Business projects to ensure that security recommendations, policies, and standards are addressed throughout the project life cycle.
  • Works with WaFd Bank’s business units and IT to identify security and control recommendations or requirements for new and current systems and products.
Provides continuous education and training to colleagues on information threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.
  • Assists with the execution of the information security incident response plan.
  • Works with outside consultants and auditors on independent information security reviews.
  • Assists in the development and enforcement of information security policies, standards, and processes.
  • Provides additional support to Information Security leadership as needed.
  • Adhere to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of reports and other recordkeeping requirements.
  • Avoid all real or perceived conflicts of interest and always maintain client privacy and confidentiality.
  • Complete and pass all assigned eLearning courses and certifications as required.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in information security, computer science, or related field.
  • Broad knowledge in information security processes, best practices, and technologies.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills to effectively convey ideas across business and technical teams.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical mindset.
  • Experience in financial services and knowledge of regulatory requirements, including GLBA, PCI, SOX, and FFIEC guidelines.
  • Experience with GRC software
