Berkeley Biologics, founded in 2023, manufactures high-quality, cost-effective, clinically relevant human cell/tissue products. The company offers a broad variety of allografts for bone, wound care and soft tissue applications. Berkeley Biologics is a licensed Tissue Bank that is accredited by the AATB.
The Finance and Accounting Manager is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the financial management and reporting activities for Berkeley Biologics. This role will ensure that all accounting standards are aligned with business objectives and industry standards and will lead the financial planning and analysis function, manage budgeting and forecasting, and optimize financial performance.The Finance and Accounting Manager will play a key role in driving the company’s growth by interfacing with cross-functional teams, including the Executive Team, R&D, Operations, and Sales, to identify opportunities for profitable growth, executing strategies to increase operational efficiency, and contributing to the financial sustainability of the company.
This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is onsite in our Richmond, CA office.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Reporting:
- Working closely with the CFO, oversee financial forecasting and budgeting processes, ensuring accurate projections and effective resource allocation.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform in-depth financial analysis to assess profitability, cost management, and return on investment (ROI) across business units and product lines.
- Provide senior leadership with financial insights and recommendations to support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), and industry-specific guidelines.
Accounting:
- Manage operations of the Accounting Department
- Review and post A/P, A/R and journal entries, close monthly general ledger and journal entries
- Implement, and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Track and analyze costs related to production, R&D, and operations.
- Prepare cost estimates for new and existing products.
- Manage inventory valuation, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure accurate reporting. Collaborate with Operations team to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste.
- Oversee the costing of raw materials, labor, and overhead in manufacturing processes.
- Manage internal controls, audit processes, and risk management strategies to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Prepare income tax returns and quarterly tax estimates.
- Establish and document all required accounting policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with External Auditors for purposes of the efficient completion
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance or accounting. CPA or CFA designation is highly desired.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in Accounting and Finance.
- Prior industry experience in a medical device/biologics or other highly regulated manufacturing environment is highly desired.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
- Expertise in cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting and auditing.
- Proficiency in financial modeling using analysis tools and software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven track record of leading financial planning, analysis, and reporting in a growth-oriented, fast-paced environment.

The base pay range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000.
