Facilities Maintenance Technician I

Overview:

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team! This position is responsible for general repairs and maintenance on buildings, structures and equipment. Maintenance Technicians are generally tasked with day-to-day upkeep of facility equipment that provides vital resources for animal breeding.The person in this role will need to feel passionate about working with animals, enjoy and excel at organization, and support and maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment.

We are seeking someone that is hardworking, shows attention to detail, takes initiative, has a teamwork mentality and positive attitude. $24 - $28/hr

Responsibilities:

This job contributes to organizational success by:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all commercial electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems
  • Assist with grounds maintenance
  • Monitor and maintain water systems and boiler operations
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance of buildings and facilities, according to facility schedule
  • Installation and/or modification of new and existing equipment
  • Potential need for hot work/welding
  • Assist in maintaining critical spare parts list inventory
  • Process work orders
  • Assist in waste treatment facility operations
  • Perform operations according to company SOPs
  • Maintain communication with the Maintenance Supervisor for status of work requests and facilities through the use of CAFM system.
  • Use of Microsoft programs including Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, and specific company software
  • Perform miscellaneous duties, on-call and weekend shifts as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Certification preferred, or minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial HVAC, and/or plumbing, mechanical, building maintenance, or a relevant field
  • Understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques
  • Tow motor, skid loader, forklift certificate and/or training preferred
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be well-organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Will need to shower into barrier facilities and comply with bio-security restrictions
  • Participation in immunization / occupational medical surveillance program
  • Must be able to lift min 50lbs on a consistent basis
  • Must be able to work overtime including weekends, holidays, and evenings
  • Must comply with all Health & Safety regulations and PPE per building/job requirements
  • Must be available for on call
  • Must be able to work with animals
  • This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
