The UC Irvine Student Health Center is a comprehensive outpatient clinic staffed with licensed primary care physicians, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, dentists, physician assistants, registered nurse practitioners, and registered nurses.

Medical specialists from various disciplines including dermatology, orthopedics/sports medicine, gynecology, internal medicine, and ENT provide on-site consultation on a regular basis. Student Health also offers basic radiology and clinical laboratory services, insurance consultation, and an on-site pharmacy, making SHC a comprehensive and convenient clinic dedicated to serving students.

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director, Budget and Finance for the Student Health Center provides high level financial and budget support to the SHC Executive Director and the Executive Team in the areas of finance, planning, and management of Student Health’s $38 million combined annual operating and capital budgets, across 17 departments.
The position also handles the grant writing effort at SHC sourcing, researching, and applying for grants and awards that are related to the services at SHC. The incumbent is responsible for the preparation, review and oversight of the center’s annual and long-term operating budgets, accounting operations, financial management, reporting and analysis.

The position works closely with the Executive Director, the Senior Leadership Team, and department managers to achieve the center’s financial goals and objectives by providing analytical support and assistance with financial strategy, planning, problem solving, and grant development.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $94,400.00 - $135,600.00 (annual)

Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources.
  • Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to function as a member of a team.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Experience with Revenue Cycle Management in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial modeling and proforma development.
  • Ability to present to high level boards and levels of the organization.
  • Participation in related professional associations.
  • Experience with an enterprise financial system.
  • Experience in developing healthcare fee schedule for both professional and facility components.
  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of budgetary and financial policies, systems and controls.
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience with the effective use of GAP (General Accounting Principals).
  • Minimum 5 years of budget development with an active role in managing and oversight of an effective capital and operational budget process.

Special Conditions:

  • Travel for conferences, department meetings, seminars, or workshops may be required
  • May be asked to represent SHC at interdepartmental or intercampus meetings
  • This position’s schedule is M-F and during traditional work hours, however, weekend or non-traditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met. In the case of extended hours, this position may be required to work those hours
  • Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring or licensure as it applies to the position, and successful completion of our background review or credentialing process, as appropriate to the position.
  • The employee must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, and CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccination and testing of healthcare employees. This includes, but may not be limited to; current hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, and annual tuberculosis screening. The employee must comply with CDPH and UC COVID-19 Vaccine Policy, by providing proof of Full Vaccination or submitting a request for Exception.
  • Per the UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor in a timely manner.
