We are searching for a Construction Project Manager to join our team in the non-profit industry, specifically in the affordable housing sector. The role is located in Chicago, Illinois and will involve managing multiple housing projects at a time.
This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and is ideal for those with a background in construction and excellent communication skills. Ideal candidates must possess experience in the Construction industry.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of approximately 10 affordable housing projects at a time, ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Utilize construction management and project management skills to ensure the smooth operation of each project.
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors and customers, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring all parties are updated on project progress.
- Utilize software tools including MS Office Suite and Quickbooks for administrative tasks and project management.
- Show initiative in moving the process along, working independently to meet project deadlines.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of construction processes, including scheduling, calling subcontractors, and managing long lead times.
- Adapt to the flexible work schedule, which may involve early mornings in the field and administrative work in the office.
- Ensure projects are completed successfully, with the potential for future engagement in large scale commercial projects.
- Use skills in Cloud Technologies, CRM, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, IBM, About Time, Agile Scrum, Budget Processes, and Construction Accounting to effectively manage projects.
- Show passion for the role and a desire to grow with the team, potentially supporting over 1,000 builds in the future.
- Understanding of budget processes and financial acumen
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in the construction industry, specifically commercial construction projects
- Knowledge of construction accounting and management principles
- Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects
- Construction experience is critical for this role; Non-profit sector experience would be advantageous
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- Familiarity with relevant health and safety regulations within the construction industry
- Degree in project management, business, construction, or a related field preferred
- Relevant professional certifications are desirable; reliable transportation between worksites is required.
