We are searching for a Construction Project Manager to join our team in the non-profit industry, specifically in the affordable housing sector. The role is located in Chicago, Illinois and will involve managing multiple housing projects at a time.

This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and is ideal for those with a background in construction and excellent communication skills. Ideal candidates must possess experience in the Construction industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of approximately 10 affordable housing projects at a time, ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Utilize construction management and project management skills to ensure the smooth operation of each project.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors and customers, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring all parties are updated on project progress.
  • Utilize software tools including MS Office Suite and Quickbooks for administrative tasks and project management.
  • Show initiative in moving the process along, working independently to meet project deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of construction processes, including scheduling, calling subcontractors, and managing long lead times.
  • Adapt to the flexible work schedule, which may involve early mornings in the field and administrative work in the office.
  • Ensure projects are completed successfully, with the potential for future engagement in large scale commercial projects.
  • Use skills in Cloud Technologies, CRM, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, IBM, About Time, Agile Scrum, Budget Processes, and Construction Accounting to effectively manage projects.
  • Show passion for the role and a desire to grow with the team, potentially supporting over 1,000 builds in the future.
  • Understanding of budget processes and financial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in the construction industry, specifically commercial construction projects
  • Knowledge of construction accounting and management principles
  • Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects
  • Construction experience is critical for this role; Non-profit sector experience would be advantageous
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety regulations within the construction industry
  • Degree in project management, business, construction, or a related field preferred
  • Relevant professional certifications are desirable; reliable transportation between worksites is required.
