We are looking for a passionate, results-oriented, inventive Sr. Software Development Engineer to help provide technical direction to a driven, friendly and supportive infrastructure team in building the large scale data engineering, analytics and intelligence infrastructure necessary to drive Observability for Amazon's network.

Key job responsibilities

The ideal candidate is a champion of engineering excellence and improves quality, maintainability and performance with every code commit. In addition, he/she contributes elegant, practical code that solves the most difficult problems at Amazon scale.

The ideal candidate will also understand big data processing techniques, have working knowledge of networking, and help the business innovate at scale.

About the team

Our team is embarking on a journey to develop the next generation of networking, observability and big data analytics for Amazon. Your work will be central to helping Amazon serve an ever-increasing volume of network traffic, including traffic during flagship events such as Prime Day.
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Big data processing
  • Network concepts
  • Experience with AWS/Cloud

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
