Applications Engineer
Seeking a Laser and Applications Engineer for a full-time direct role based in Monrovia, CA
Summary:Evaluate customer-supplied samples and recommend appropriate equipment for their applications. Provide technical support, consultation, and application process development services to customers and other departments based on the product/technical knowledge and expertise acquired, before and post-employment, by extended intellectual instruction and study.
This position regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance of job duties.
Responsibilities:- Evaluate customer"s applications (contact customers and/or Sales Managers & Reps to obtain the necessary information needed to complete the applications in a timely manner).
- Complete welding, marking, cutting, etc. of the application and write detailed report of findings to include recommendation of suitable equipment for the customer to use for their application (May require reviewing equipment specifications personally or with the Product Engineer).
- Provide phone, email, and on-site technical support and consultation to customers and other departments (Provide technical support to all Sales Manager"s, Reps and other departments, to ensure quality customer service).
- Travel to customer facilities. (Provide training classes, installation and set-up of equipment, or carry out process development).
- Give presentations on process fundamentals, use and application of equipment, sizing of equipment for applications, DOE"s, etc.
- Easily absorb technical knowledge and ability to memorize the technical performance specifications of the product line.

- Excellent computer skills and demonstrated ability in PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

- Experience in phone and personal communication with customers.
- Positive attitude towards satisfying customer requirements.
- Commercial and business experience involving some knowledge of manufacturing and sales.
- Ideal candidate will have a positive and flexible approach to a heavy workload with constantly changing priorities.
- Field travel in the America"s, Europe, and Asia.
Education & Experience:
- 4-year Technical College Degree required.
- A minimum 2 years of manufacturing engineering or technical support/consulting experience required
- Microsoft Office required.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in all areas of responsibility.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required.
English Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
