We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Field Technician in the non-profit sector, based in Brooklyn, New York. As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and installing hardware and software for end-user workstations.

You will also handle incoming calls and emails related to desktop issues, and collaborate with network administrators to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Handle incoming inquiries regarding desktop issues via calls, pages, or emails
  • Conduct onsite analysis and diagnosis of complex desktop problems and implement corrective solutions
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software
  • Collaborate with network administrators to ensure efficient desktop computing environment operations
  • Manage and resolve issues with associated end-user workstation networking software products
  • Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) requests as submitted by line managers
  • Prepare, maintain, and uphold procedures for logging, reporting, and monitoring desktop operations
  • Document instances of desktop equipment failure, repair, installation, and removal accurately
  • Maintain an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, network equipment, and other components
  • Develop long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop hardware needs
  • Research on desktop products in support of PC procurement and development efforts and recommend products for purchase
  • Write technical specifications for the purchase of PCs, desktop hardware, and related products. • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Field Technician or in a similar role within the non-profit sector
  • Proficiency in providing onsite support and end-user support
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 365
  • Demonstrable ability to handle network configuration, connectivity issues, and knowledge of network printers
  • Experience with Wi-Fi, PC hardware, and network hardware setups
  • Familiarity with laptop hardware and ability to troubleshoot related issues
  • Proficient in working with Cisco technologies and hardware
  • Understanding of DNS, router switches and router configuration
  • Experience with Cisco routers, terminals, TCP/IP, and DHCP
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on the field
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders in the non-profit organization
  • Willingness to travel for onsite visits and provide field support as needed
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record
  • Ability to handle physical requirements of the job including lifting and transporting equipment as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document technical issues and solutions effectively
