Our client, a highly-regarded AmLaw 200 firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their growing Construction Practice Group in Nashville(link removed) This position offers a clear path for career advancement within the firm, providing hands-on experience in both transactional and litigation aspects of construction law while working alongside seasoned attorneys in a collaborative environment.
Candidate Profile:
- JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record(link removed)>
- Active Bar Admission in Tennessee.
- 14 years of substantive experience in construction law, including both transactional and litigation matters(link removed)>
- Some experience representing owners and developers in construction disputes, including delay claims, liens, compensation and expense issues, and quality-of-work matters(link removed)>
- Courtroom and deposition experience are strongly preferred(link removed)>
- Exposure to the planning, negotiation, design, and construction phases of complex development projects(link removed)>
- Strong legal writing skills, with experience drafting contracts, pleadings, and other legal documents in both litigation and transactional contexts(link removed)>
- Pre-law background or previous career in construction are preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent owners and developers in complex construction disputes and litigation matters(link removed)>
- Advise clients throughout the planning, negotiation, and execution phases of construction projects.
- Draft and negotiate construction-related agreements, including design and development contracts.
- Manage and resolve disputes related to construction projects, including handling claims involving delays, defects, and payment issues(link removed)>
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings and motions, and participate in discovery and depositions.
