Our client, a prominent non-profit organization supporting higher education initiatives across a multi-campus system, is seeking an experienced **Accounting Manager** to join their finance team. This organization manages a $2B endowment supporting students, faculty, and academic programs across multiple campuses, as well as handling fund accounting, endowment administration, and investment support activities.

Position Overview

The Accounting Manager will work closely with the finance team under the direction of the Controller, overseeing endowment administration, contributions, and financial reporting. Responsibilities include handling various daily tasks, supporting month-end close processes, managing the year-end audit, and undertaking additional projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Endowment Administration: Review and manage new and existing endowment accounts; handle exception processing requests.
  • Gift Processing: Oversee gift processing and matching gift administration across campuses.
  • Financial Reporting: Perform reconciliations, prepare financial statements, and generate quarterly reports.
  • Spending Rate Distributions: Manage detailed distribution estimates and execute distributions within the fund accounting system.
  • Pledge & Bequest Receivables: Reconcile pledge payments, prepare reserve calculations, and post journal entries.
  • Audit and Tax Support: Assist in preparing documentation for annual audits and tax filings.
  • Grant Management: Work with legal to ensure grants are accurately recorded.
  • Team Supervision: Oversee and ensure timely and accurate completion of daily and weekly tasks.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years in a professional accounting role; higher education, fund accounting, or portfolio accounting experience preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year in an accounting management role preferred.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting principles and ERP systems.
  • Strong Excel skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Benefits

Compensation: $100,000

$130,000 annually
