About the Role:
The Senior Accounting Manager will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audits. This person will manage the monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements and lender deliverables.The Senior Accounting Manager will be an integral part of the accounting team and supporting senior management. Reporting to the Vice President of Accounting, the Senior Accounting Manager will own a broad set of financial responsibilities, including assisting in the budgeting and forecasting process, the monthly close process, management reporting, and the annual audit.
The ideal candidate possesses the ability to manage individuals and responsibilities, has a strong operational and technical accounting experience, detailed-oriented, and works proactively to drive results. Additionally, this candidate should be able to work independently, have strong communication (verbal and written) skills, have the ability to prioritize and efficiently handle a variety of tasks at one time in a dynamic work environment, have a strong work ethic, and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
What you will do:
- Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all revenues earned and costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, reviewing account balance reconciliations review, reviewing monthly/quarterly reports, and reviewing lender deliverables. Must be able to answer review questions on content and explain accounting and business rationale as required.
- Manage and coordinate financial reporting and accounting for certain portfolios inclusive of audited and unaudited financial statements, general ledger closings and transaction processing.
- Coordinate accounting for acquisition transactions, inclusive of implementing accounting processes, general ledgers and financial reporting, creation of opening balance sheet, determination and resolution of purchase price adjustment and other accounting activities.
- Ability to guide and coordinate quarterly and annual asset valuation reporting.
- Primary interface with external audit team to facilitate completion of financial statement audits in a timely and accurate manner.
- Keeps accounting management informed on issues within the assigned areas of responsibility and supplies support for any financial data request.
- Make recommendations for changes as needed, and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required
Qualifications:
We want you on our team because you…- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or advanced degree in accounting required
- 8 to 12 years of experience of accounting experience (industry or public), with at least 3 years of management experience
- Strong understanding and knowledge of US GAAP. Experience in interpreting and implementing accounting guidance to non-routine transactions.
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Strong experience using accounting software and data analytics
- Highly-effective team management
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience working in the Energy industry a plus
