The File Clerk is a non-exempt employee, who is responsible for organizing records, such as letters, legal documents, case files, correspondence, invoices and memoranda according to the filing system. This position communicates, interacts and provides excellent customer service to firm personnel at all levels.

Provides back-up for other positions for breaks, lunches, unplanned absences and vacations.

Qualifications:

The following education, experience & skills are required for this position:

Education: High school degree, or GED equivalent required.
  • General familiarity with legal concepts, procedures and documents.
  • Ability to assemble files and to file information utilizing alphabetical and numerical filing guidelines.
  • Proven working experience in a front office handling receptionist responsibilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of telephone/voicemail systems.
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge and experience with scanning and electronic documents and software.
  • Ability to operate office equipment including photocopier and fax machines.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate work effectively with a diverse group of attorneys, staff and clients.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise.
  • Professional appearance and presentation.
