We are offering a long term contract opportunity for a Programmer Analyst in the Financial Services industry, based in Brookfield, Wisconsin. As a Programmer Analyst, you will be working with various programming languages and tools to develop, design, and support system operations.

You will have the opportunity to engage with several teams, suggest system enhancements, and manage software projects through their lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop system operations primarily using RPG, RPGLE, COBOL, CL, and SQL programming languages.
  • Utilize AS400-based software and tools such as RLU, SDA, SEU, Spoolflex, Query Manager, and others.
  • Create and support processes that interact with the AS400 applications, and web-based applications.
  • Implement additional features to the AS400 system and support their operations.
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives and measures to improve the run-times of applications.
  • Develop support documents for the software developed.
  • Consult with various teams such as Underwriting, Claims, and Finance on current application support and new system enhancements.
  • Suggest improvements to existing software and business processes following department's Project Methodologies.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Manage multiple software projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Programmer Analyst or in a similar role within the Financial Services industry
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as RPG, iSeries, COBOL (all versions), CL/400, SQL, AS400, AS400 RPG, SQLRPGLE, and RPGLE
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand and resolve complex programming issues
  • Demonstrated ability to design, code, test, debug, document, and maintain programs
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing software applications
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
  • Deep understanding of database management systems and SQL
  • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with team members and stakeholders
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as part of a team, on multiple projects simultaneously
