Billing Clerk

We are in search of a meticulous Billing Clerk to join our team in the non-profit industry located in Taunton, Massachusetts. In this role, you will be tasked with maintaining updated patient insurance and demographic records, processing charge entries, and building relationships with insurance representatives.

Additionally, you will be expected to guide directors and clinicians on billing procedures and performance specifications, monitor and report on account activities, and ensure claims are processed within a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all patient insurance and demographic records are current and accurately maintained
  • Promptly and accurately process charge entries for assigned programs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance representatives to streamline communication and resolve issues
  • Offer guidance to program directors and clinicians regarding billing procedures and performance specifications
  • Monitor and report on high balance accounts and problematic account activities
  • Regularly review aging reports to ensure claims are processed within the payer's timely filing limit
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all HCPC codes relevant to assigned programs
  • Independently research and stay informed about payer specifications and requirements. • Prior experience in a similar role is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in Medical Billing is essential
  • Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • High level of accuracy and efficiency in data entry
  • Knowledge of billing procedures and documentation requirements
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent education level is required. Higher education in finance or a related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with billing software and electronic medical records systems is an advantage.
