Accounting Specialist

Established New York City organization is currently seeking an Accounting Specialist with at least 2 years of relevant experience to join their team. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for handling a broad spectrum of accounting responsibilities, such as payroll processing, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

• Efficiently manage the payroll processes, ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Handle the entire accounts payable process, including invoice coding, data entry, and ensuring timely payments to avoid late fees and maintain vendor relationships.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations by comparing and correcting discrepancies between the bank statements and the company’s books.
• Maintain and organize financial records and reports.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
• Collaborate with team to develop and implement financial strategies.
• Assist with budget preparation and financial planning processes.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
• Solve any issues or discrepancies related to accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years' experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong knowledge of payroll and other accounting principles.
• Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
