Global Head - Credit Risk, Credit Risk Strategy and Operations

The Financial Operations Accounts Receivable team is seeking a Senior Manager of Global Credit Risk to lead and transform our worldwide Credit Strategy and Operations organization. This strategic leader will oversee multiple teams of credit risk analysts as Amazon's second line of defense, driving innovation across our global portfolio.
The role focuses on risk mitigation across all Amazon channels through advanced credit analytics, proprietary risk models, and enhanced collection strategies, while optimizing revenue opportunities. The successful candidate will be an exceptional leader who can architect and scale a world-class credit management program across our entire AR organization.
Key responsibilities include developing proprietary credit models, managing relationships with rating agencies, overseeing our reserve methodology, and establishing global credit governance frameworks. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional leadership experience, deep credit risk expertise, strong business acumen, and excellent stakeholder management skills.

This senior manager role requires demonstrated success in leading large teams across multiple geographies and driving technological innovation in credit risk management.

Key job responsibilities

Critical Strategic Responsibilities:
  • Lead credit, bankruptcy and debt recovery teams to manage global credit risk exposure
  • Partner with data science team to maintain and enhance in-house ratings models
  • Strong product mindset to grow in-house tool (LECIS/FIRE) for counterparty mgmt. and centralize ratings as well as tooling to enforce cross-channel holds and/or DFP.
  • Create and implement global credit policies and governance frameworks
  • Strong process mindset to create and scale WW high risk account processes across 1600+ AR organization
Core Operational Responsibilities:
  • Creates mechanism and partner with multiple deal desks to provide credit rating and insights
  • Partner with accounting teams for CECL reserve inputs based on portfolio ratings
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for credit risk management
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including CFOs, controllers, business finance and accounting teams
  • Owner for 3P data (Moody's, S&P, etc.) contracts

Additional Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead periodic credit reviews of major accounts and portfolio analysis
  • Oversee credit related collections escalation processes
  • Ensure compliance with international credit regulations and standards
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management on credit risk exposure and portfolio health
  • Lead process efficiency initiatives for credit operations
  • Coordinate with legal teams on credit-related matters
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience in credit risk management
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience leading teams of 5 or more
  • Experience developing or implementing credit risk models
  • Experience managing relationships with credit rating agencies
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and credit reports
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership
  • Experience using SQL or similar data query tools
  • Experience managing credit portfolios exceeding $100M
  • Experience implementing credit policies and proceduresEducation & Certifications
  • Master's degree in Finance, Business, or related field
  • CFA, FRM, or similar professional certification
  • Six Sigma certification
Technical Skills & Experience
  • Experience with machine learning applications in credit risk modeling
  • Experience managing global, multi-regional teams
  • Experience with CECL methodology and implementation
  • Knowledge of AWS services and cloud computing
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $142,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $236,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
