[ref. x38662015] Nationwide search: houston family in west university seeks a full-time nanny/family assistant!
Overview:
HOUSTON, TX (NATIONWIDE SEARCH): A wonderful family in West University seeks a FULL-TIME, LIVE OUT NANNY to care for their two active and loving children: a 10-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. The family has had the same nanny for four years and is now looking for a new caregiver to step in and become a part of their busy household. The eldest child is a quiet, responsible 5th grader who adores horses and is a competitive rider. She is loving and thoughtful, with a deep bond to her animals. Her 6-year-old brother is full of energy—playful, silly, and loud. He loves building Legos and has great focus despite having ADHD, which he manages well through therapy and medication.
He’s a picky eater, so the family is looking for a nanny who can prepare simple, healthy meals and help expand his palate.
The family’s home is bustling with activity, including 1 dog and 4 cats. Mom takes care of the pets and is a stay-at-home parent who is in and out throughout the day. Both children are social and enjoy hosting playdates, so the ideal nanny will be comfortable in a lively environment and eager to help organize fun activities.Dad works from a dedicated home office occasionally and also has an external office.
The position is Monday to Friday, with the core hours between 6:30-8:30 a.m. and 2:30-7:30 p.m. They are open to paying someone for the hours the children are in school if willing to assist with meal prep/cooking simple meals, running errands, organizational projects and managing the children’s laundry.Weekends are busy with sports and activities for both kiddos. The nanny will work approximately 15-18 weekends per year, typically working two days for 5 hours each day. During these times, the nanny will often split responsibilities with mom, ensuring both children are supported in their various activities or caring for one child while mom travels with the other.
The family is open to hiring additional weekend help if needed.
Both children attend the same school, with staggered pick-up times. Mom typically handles drop offs, but the nanny will help as needed. Mom and the nanny will divide and conquer afterschool pickups, taking the children to their afterschool activities and helping them manage homework and school projects.A collaborative and proactive attitude is key, as the nanny will work closely with mom to manage schedules and keep the household running smoothly. The role also involves occasional travel, both domestically and internationally, with potential trips to Europe, ski vacations, and horse shows on the calendar.
They already have plans to travel on January 1^st for 3 weeks intermittently. The nanny should be travel savvy and comfortable traveling solo with the youngest child.
The ideal candidate is warm, fun, and energetic, with a positive, can-do attitude. The family is doing all they can to prepare and make the transition of care smooth for their son, who is particularly attached to their current nanny. Some extra patience is appreciated while he is acclimated. They value a nanny who takes initiative, is confident, and is comfortable setting up playdates with friends and fellow nannies. Strong communication skills are essential, as the nanny will need to collaborate with mom while respecting her role as the decision-maker.
Boundaries are important, and the family needs someone who can set them with love and confidence.
Compensation is competitive, with a rate of $30-35/hour based on experience, plus overtime. The family offers an electric SUV for the nanny to use, along with a credit card for meals and errands. Benefits include paid sick days, vacation, a performance-based bonus, and most major holidays off, although some minor holiday work may be required such as President’s Day, MLK Day, Columbus and Labor Day.While the family does not provide formal health insurance, they are willing to cover wellness checks and dental visits. The role is available for an immediate start, and the family is willing to assist with relocation for the right candidate.
If you are a kind, confident, and experienced caregiver who loves working with energetic, creative children, this could be the perfect role for you!
