Department Overview:

As the specialty referral center for Oregon, Southwest Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and Northern California, OHSU has one of the highest case mix indexes of any U.S. academic health center.* Specialty areas include oncology, bone marrow transplant, cardiac, solid organ transplant, trauma and neurosurgery.

Intermediate care patients are also placed on our acute care units.

  • This role is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA).
  • Weekend Obligation: Unit based approved guidelines
  • Floating Obligation: Upon completion of orientation
  • Shift Differential: $2/hr differential during orientation, upon successful completion of orientation differential of $8/hr will be initiated. There is also an additional night shift differential!

Function/Duties of Position:

$8,000 Hiring Bonus for candidates with at least (1) year acute care hospital registered nurse experience. Must begin work by June 30, 2025 to qualify.

Relocation assistance package available. Free parking at night!

$52.11- $86.81 per hour, based on RN Degree and level of experience.

With your acute care clinical expertise as a base (1 year of current nursing experience in adult acute care, adult intermediate care, and/or emergency department observation), we will teach you everything you need to know to float between various clinical specialty areas.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum requirements for all Nurses:

  • BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date
  • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date
  • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
  • BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • BLS must not expire during orientation
  • Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation

Department Specific Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of current nursing experience

Bonus Disclaimer: current RN employees at OHSU, Adventist Medical Center in Portland or Hillsboro Medical Center are not eligible for the hiring bonus.

Length of Orientation
  • Experienced Nurse (Fellowship or Specialty Fellowship) with more than 1 year of experience:
  • Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Learning Pathway or Orientation experience individualized to the candidate between 2-12 weeks.
