Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
- The Trauma Performance Improvement Nurse is an RN who collaborates with the trauma program leadership to coordinate and facilitate the Trauma Performance Improvement Patient Safety (PIPS) Program.
- They are responsible for overseeing trauma database management including accurate data collection, analysis, data validation, trending and benchmarking data outcomes.
- An essential aspect of their responsibility is to continuously improve quality of care while assuring compliance with trauma standards and guidelines established by the American College of Surgeons.
Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
- Minimum of 3-5 years clinical trauma nursing experience, e.g., Emergency Department, Operating Room, Critical Care Intensive Care Unit.
- Current California State Board Registered Nursing License.
- Trauma nurse provider certification (TNCC or ATCN)
- BLS
- ACLS
- Associate’s Degree - Annual minimum requirement for trauma related continuing education.
- Experience with trauma data collection and registry entry and performance improvement. Computer skills including knowledge of spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work in diverse cultural community groups. Ability to work productively in a fast-paced, changing environment. Demonstrated initiative and creativity in problem solving and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Completion of PI course, Registrar course, AAAM AIS training course and ICD-10 course within 8 months of hire.
Preferred/Desired:
- Experience in public speaking an asset.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - BSN
- PALS
- Knowledge in ICD-10
- CAISS certification
