We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Fleet Director to oversee the management and operation of our growing fleet of vehicles and equipment. This role is critical to ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.The Fleet Director will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's fleet of vehicles, machinery, and heavy equipment.This position requires a strong leader with a proven track record in fleet management, logistics, and operations, as well as a deep understanding of construction industry needs. The Fleet Director will collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to ensure fleet availability and maintenance while controlling costs.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the company's fleet, including trucks, heavy equipment, and specialized machinery.
- Develop and implement fleet maintenance programs to maximize vehicle uptime and minimize repair costs.
- Manage fleet scheduling, including equipment allocation for various job sites.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular audits to assess fleet performance, equipment condition, and operational costs.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and suppliers for repairs, equipment purchases, and leasing.
- Implement fuel management strategies to optimize consumption and reduce costs.
- Analyze fleet data, generate reports, and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare and manage the annual fleet budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement, maintenance, and operation of all fleet assets.
- Coordinate with project managers and other departments to ensure fleet availability aligns with project timelines and requirements.
- Lead and mentor a team of fleet maintenance personnel, drivers, and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and licensing requirements.
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies related to fleet management.

The Successful Applicant
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in fleet management, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of fleet operations, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze data and make cost-effective decisions.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and best practices in fleet management.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
