The Fourth Grade Head Teacher provides all of the social studies instruction for the grade; a strong background in teaching social studies is essential. The Fourth Grade Head Teacher also provides English Language Arts instruction for their class.

Lower School Head Teachers are responsible for all classroom duties, both academic and organizational. These responsibilities include: planning and teaching curriculum, facilitating classroom management procedures, observing and assessing students’ progress, and communicating with parents, faculty, and administration.

Head Teachers are responsible for keeping support staff abreast of students’ progress.

Lower School Head Teachers facilitate parent-teacher conferences and prepare written comments that are shared with families twice a year. They attend faculty meetings, grade level meetings, and confer with colleagues regarding teaching and strategies.

Head Teachers have lunch, recess, and bus duty responsibilities. Head teachers participate in admission events as needed.

Lower School Head Teachers are responsible for completing a Meaning Faculty Evaluation plan and working on these goals with the Division Head. They are responsible for informing the Division Head of supplies that need to be ordered for the classroom.

In the event of a known absence, Head Teachers need to leave appropriate lesson plans for the substitute teacher.

Head Teachers need to be attuned to the needs of their students. In support of The Cathedral School's mission, they must be prepared to view curriculum and classroom and school culture through a lens focused on equity and justice. A nurturing and caring personality is essential.

This is a full-time, 10-month role with a salary range of $75,000 - $90,000.
