Job Summary:The Vessel Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to the safe and efficient operation of vessels within the port or terminal. This role involves managing vessel scheduling, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, optimizing vessel turnaround times, supervising operational staff, and liaising with various stakeholders, including vessel crews, terminal staff, and port authorities.
Key Responsibilities:- Vessel Scheduling & Coordination:
o Coordinate with port agents, shipping companies, and terminal operators to ensure smooth vessel arrivals and departures.
o Monitor real-time vessel movements and adjust schedules as needed to prevent delays.
- Operational Supervision:
o Supervise daily vessel operations, including loading, unloading, and cargo handling activities.
o Ensure the safe and efficient execution of operations in line with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.o Monitor operational staff to ensure tasks are performed according to safety protocols, operational procedures, and best practices.
o Oversee the preparation and maintenance of operational reports and logs.
- Compliance & Safety:
o Implement and enforce safety protocols for vessel operations, ensuring staff and vessel safety during all phases of port activity.
o Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Liaison & Communication:
o Communicate operational issues and delays to relevant stakeholders promptly.
o Ensure all stakeholders are kept informed of vessel schedules, operational updates, and changes.
- Performance Monitoring:
o Identify areas for improvement in operational processes and implement optimization strategies.
o Maintain records of vessel performance and work to reduce operational delays and inefficiencies.
- Staff Management & Training:
o Ensure staff are adequately trained in operational procedures, safety protocols, and equipment use.
o Conduct performance reviews and provide guidance for staff development.
- Equipment & Resource Management:
o Ensure equipment is properly maintained and available for use as needed.
o Liaise with maintenance teams to schedule repairs and address equipment failures.
- Emergency Response:
o Participate in emergency drills and safety briefings.
